NEW!!! Wild Ones: Power Tumbling Team
Starting in February YGC will be officially starting our tumbling program, The Wild Ones. This competitive team will consist of athletes invited in by our head coach Will Crawford.
*Preteam and Team will work out on Tuesday’s and Thursday’s from 5:00 – 7:00 PM. Level 5 and up will also practice on Fridays from 5:00 – 6:30 PM.
NEW!!! Drill Team :
Drill Team is a marching unit that performs military style maneuvers in parades and other public venues. Precision well choreographed routines mixed with gymnastics, jazz, and ballet.
Drill is not just about performances. It also instills girls with self esteem, confidence, responsibility, and leadership skills. Most importantly it teaches girls to have fun and strive to do their best.
Acro, Thurs 6:30-7:30
Gymnastics designed for dancers, Ages 9+
Kindergym:
Ages 3-5
This is a 45 minute class, instructor-led that builds beginning gymnastics
and social skills.
Beginning
Girls:
An hour class for girls to build strength, flexibility, and sportsmanship
by learning elementary skills on trampoline, bars, beam, floor, and
vault.
Advanced
Beginning Girls:
An hour class for girls ready to move up from the beginning class.
Intermediate
Girls:
An hour class for those that have exceptional skills in all four gymnastics
events.
Beginning
Boys:
An hour class for boys to build strength, flexibility, and sportsmanship
while learning the skills of gymnastics.
Advanced
Beginning Boys:
An hour class for Boys ready to move up from the beginning class.
Tumbling
& Trampoline: Ages 8+
An hour coed class that works strength, flexibility, and the specifics
for tumbling and trampoline work.
Cheer
Tumbling Classes:
HANDSPRING CLASS Purpose: To develop front and back handsprings and round-off back handsprings by learning proper body control, conditioning, lead up drills and basic tumbling. This class is designed to not only teach the front and back handspring, but to enable the student to progress to the next skill set (i.e. standing back tuck, round-off back handspring back tuck, and front handspring step out round-off back handspring etc.).
Prerequisite; cartwheel, round-off, and handstand
INTERMEDIATE CHEER TUMBLING Purpose: To develop tumbling runs by linking skills in a single continuous pass. This class focuses on body control, the development of speed and efficiency of power transfer through linked skills. Students will learn both front and back tumbling through drill progression and proper technique. Students will also learn the progression to the next higher skill set (i.e. layouts, twisting, whips etc.). Prerequisite; front and back handspring and round-off back handspring.
ADVANCED CHEER TUMBLING Purpose: To develop multiple salto (flips) and twisting passes. This class focuses on body position, actions in flight and air sense by utilizing the floor, trampolines and “pit mats”. Students will learn to tumble into and out of front and back saltos, twisting and saltos in a series.
Prerequisite; round-off back handspring back tuck and front handspring front tuck.
Advanced
Tumbling: A Round-off Back Handspring by themselves is required for
this class
This class will focus only on building tumbling runs.
YGC Jagz Cheer Program :
Runs January-June. Registration to begin in November 2007 [PDF CHEER FLYER].
Girls
Pre Team: Coach Invited
Gymnasts that show advanced skill development and an exceptionally
good attitude will be invited by our coaching staff to join Pre Team.
These classes are twice a week for 1½ hours each visit. This
is a step towards our competitive team and is a wonderful learning
experience.
Girls
Team: Coach Invited
Our competitive gymnastics team is based on the United States Gymnastics
Association guidelines; team begins competition at level 4. We are
proud to say our team gymnasts are competing happily and healthy in
the gymnastics world.
Home
School Classes: We offer two classes, divided by age, specific to
home school needs
An hour class offered for those that are home schooled, a wonderful
social outing to work on strength, flexibility, and gymnastic skills.
Adult
Gym and Trampoline: It’s NEVER too late to start (or restart)
gymnastics!
An hour class offered for adults 18 and older for a small drop in
fee. Come work on your flexibility, strength, and build on your gymnastics
skills.
Three
Open Gym opportunities: Toddler Open Gym, Homeschool Open Gym, and
Saturday Open Gym for 5+.
